Dear Editor,
Annually the Cancer Association of Darke County (CADC) celebrates National Cancer Survivors Day. This year’s celebration, a Walk and 5K Run, will be Saturday, June 2, 2012. The CADC honors those Darke County citizens who are living with and beyond cancer. We will join hundreds of communities worldwide in celebrating life as part of the 25th annual National Cancer Survivors Day. Celebrations will be held throughout the United States, Canada, and other participating countries. We want to invite everyone to our community’s celebration. The celebration will be held at the Greenville City Park Shelter #3 with registration beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Our definition of a “survivor” is anyone living with a history of cancer-from the moment of diagnosis through the remainder of life.
Major advances in cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment have resulted in longer survival. However, physical, financial, and emotional hardships often persist after diagnosis and treatment. To improve the quality of life for cancer survivors, help is needed.
The Cancer Association of Darke County was established to provide service according to the needs of cancer patients who reside in Darke County. We Walk and Run in memory of family and friends and in honor of survivors who continue to fight the fight.
As the organizers of this local event, we encourage everyone to attend the celebration to show their support for our community’s cancer survivors, their families, friends, and healthcare providers. For more information to register and collect donations for the Walk/5K Run call 937-548-9960.
Sincerely,
Cancer Association of Darke County
Cancer Survivors Day Committee
