School's Out for Summer! Time for Summer Camp!
Schools out for summer! What are your kids going to do with all of their free time? Send them to the Darke County Parks for one of our Summer Camps. Each camp is 5 days full of fun and creative ways to discover nature! Hikes, crafts and activities will enhance your child’s appreciation and understanding of the natural world and historic past all around them!
For those children who are 6-7 years old and have completed kindergarten, DCP is offering Nature; From the Group Up! We will begin the week digging in the dirt and work our way up to the sky. During this camp, be prepared to get dirty, hop in the creek and maybe even learn to fly…a Kite! This camp will be held Monday, July 16 to Friday, July 20. Registration is due by June 18. Camp will be held from 9:30am-12:00pm and the cost is $65.
8-9 year olds need to be prepared to get wet! During this Wet, Wild and Wonderful camp, we will discover the different types of insects, birds, and amphibians in Darke County. We will determine where they call home, and how they survive in the woods, prairie and water! Wet, Wild and Wonderful camp will be held Monday, July 9 to Friday, July 13. Registration is due June 11. Camp will be held from 9:30am-12:00pm and the cost is $70.
For 10-12 year olds , we are once again hosting our annual favorite, Paddling, Hiking and Camping! Monday, June 25 to Friday June 29, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The adventure begins with paddling lessons in both kayaks and canoes, followed by a float down Greenville Creek. Finally, we’ll pitch tents, paddle the shoreline and cook our own dinner during an overnight outing to a lakeside campout. Registration is due May 29. The cost of 10-12 year old camp is $75.
Extreme Adventures camp is for those teenagers (13-15 years old) who say they are bored this summer. During this camp, be prepared for anything! From zip-lining to kayaking down the river to a camp-out, we will see what kind of adventures we can get into. Your teen will not be bored at this extreme camp which will be held from 10am to 4pm, June 18-June 22. The fee for this camp is $95 and registration is due by May 29.
