“Godspell” Not to be Missed!

Towne & Country Players opened their summer production tonight in style.

This noted Versailles theatre group always gives its audience a great show and tonight was no exception!

This Stephen Schwartz musical was ground breaking in the 1970’s, today it recalls those simpler days still in a most powerful way as it recounts in the most contemporary way the Gospel of Mathew. Today Schwartz's newest musical “Wicked” is now playing at the Schuster in Dayton.

Becci Miller is directing her first musical for Towne & Country. Miller has skillfully taken her script and allowed her cast to do what they do best! The cast’s strong ensemble work and the freedom to allow a bit of themselves to come through their character is most enjoyable to watch.

Dana Geuy as musical director gets the most out of ten voices. The strong solo work, as well as the tight harmonies make for a great night of music.

Darke County Center for the Arts, Artistic Director Keith Rawlins returned to the stage as John the Baptist/Judas. Keith has been a veteran of many productions and is always a welcome addition to any production.

Newcomer Aaron Hess, a recent graduate of Coldwater High School, makes his T. & C. P. debut as Jesus.

Other returning Towne & Country veterans include Bonnie Philpot, Angie DeMange, Jeremy Riley, and Shanna Camacho. Haley Hogenkamp and Devin Rindler came to Towne & Country last year and return again this year. They join newcomers Grace Stamman and Jim Bruney to round out this talented group of performers.

So why believe me? Come see for yourself and support the arts as well.

“Godspell” continues at the Versailles Performing Arts Center on June 22, 23, at 7:30 p.m. & June 24 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.00 and all seats are reserved. For additional information or to reserve your seat, contact our box office at 937-507-1513. Don’t miss this ground breaking musical on its first time on our local stage!
