Darke County Center for the Arts opens their Coffeehouse Series on September 20 with The Russian Duo, balalaika-player Oleg Kruglyakov and pianist Terry Boyarsky, performing at the Wayne Trail Historical Society House, 124 West George Street, Arcanum. According to DCCA Artistic Director Keith Rawlins, these two conservatory trained musicians play the music of their native land including gypsy songs, dance music, and romantic melodies. “Oleg and Terry's effervescent personalities create a delightful rapport with audiences, while their exuberant music effectively showcases their amazing skills as musicians,” Rawlins stated. The show begins at 7 p.m. Desserts with a Russian flavor and a variety of beverages reflecting the culture of that region will be available during the concert.DCCA's Coffeehouse Series was created to offer performances by high quality artists in comfortable social settings around the community with food and drink adding to the casual atmosphere offered at Coffeehouse concerts. “This first-ever DCCA concert in Arcanum came about at the request of Arcanum's Wayne Trail Historical Society,” Mr. Rawlins said. “DCCA is excited about presenting these talented, accessible international artists in Arcanum, and look forward to continuing this partnership well into the future,” he concluded.
DCCA's Coffeehouse Series is sponsored by Julie and Tom Graber, Eileen and Steve Litchfield, and Rodney Oda. Darke County Center for the Arts also receives support from local businesses, foundations, and the Ohio Arts Council, which helped fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
