Mandy's Sunshine Run - Saturday, September 22

Mandy's Sunshine Run will take place Saturday, September 22, at the Greenville City Park.

Proceeds from Mandy's Sunshine Run will benefit the Mandy Green Class of 2013 Memorial Scholarship Fund through the HOPE Foundation of Darke County. Mandy passed away from cancer at the young age of 10, while a student at Woodland Heights Elementary. Friends and classmates were extremely supportive of Mandy through her struggle with cancer, and the fund was established by her family as a way to reflect the support Mandy received during her illness.

The walk will begin with an opening ceremony at 8:10 a.m. A kids' Fun Run will take place at 8:20 a.m., starting at the corner of Harmon and Greenwave Way and ending at the 5K starting line. Parents are welcome to run with their children, and all participants will receive a finisher ribbon and door prize.

The 5K Run/Walk will start at 8:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Shelter House 4. Awards are presented to all age groups in both male and female divisions. A two-mile non-competitive walking route is available for those who do not want to complete the entire route. The walking route begins at the same location, but will finish at the two-mile mark. All participants are eligible for door prizes.

The cost of participating in the Fun Run is $2, which does not include a t-shirt. If t-shirts are still available, the cost is $7.00. The cost of participating in the 5K or two-mile run/walk is $18.00 after September 10. Participants can register the night before the race (September 21) at the shelter house near the round house/playground in the Greenville City Park from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. or the day of the race (September 22) from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. Participants can also register at http://www.mandysfunrun.org or http://www.active.com until September 15.
