On October 2, 2012 at approximately 7:05 AM Darke County Deputies along, with Arcanum Fire, Arcanum Rescue and Pitsburg Fire were dispatched to State Route 49 north of Oakes Road in reference to a multiple vehicle, injury accident.Preliminary investigation revealed a green 1998 Ford contour driven by, Tyler J. Kuhn, 19, Greenville, was traveling northbound on State Route 49 north of Oakes Road. Kuhn's vehicle traveled across the centerline striking a southbound 2007 Buick Lucerne driven by, Gregg E. Holley, 55, Lancaster, Ohio. Kuhn and Holley's vehicles collided head on. After the initial impact Holley's vehicle was struck by a southbound 1996 Chrysler LHS driven by, David P. Maurer Jr., Greenville.
Greg E. Holley was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Arcanum Rescue where is listed in fair condition. David P. Maurer Jr. refused treatment at the scene. Tyler J. Kuhn succumbed to his injuries sustained in the accident.
The Darke County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction team and the Darke County Coroners Investigator also responded to the scene for further investigation.
This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
