State of the Heart Hospice held a “Drive Thru Lunch” September 28 to benefit a Greenville girl whose family is dealing with medical expenses in the care of their daughter.

Corynna Strawser suffers from an incurable gastrointestinal illness which has led to major medical expenses. Her mother, Kristi, was employed as a State of the Heart nurse for over five years. Corynna, Kristi and Kristi’s mother, Teresa Stetler-Clear recently visited the State of the Heart offices to personally thank representatives for a donation of $1,630.75 that was raised during the “Drive Thru Lunch.”

Corynna is the only child of Kristi and her husband Sean. Kristi said, “We would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for all of the caring and support State of the Heart has shown to our family as we deal with Corynna’s health issues. It truly helps to know that so many people care and that we are not alone. I truly have always felt like State of the Heart was more than a job,” she added. “State of the Heart was more like a family to me and my family and the gesture of the “Drive Thru Lunch” reminds me more of this.”

A variety of fund raisers have been held to help the family with unplanned expenses. A special blue wrist band has been created with the inscription “Courage for Corynna” on it. They can be purchased by calling Kristi and her husband Sean at 937-423-1794.

Ryan Gathard, Fund Development for State of the Heart, stated, “We are truly pleased to have helped the family in their time of need. We had a great outpouring of support for the ‘Drive Thru Lunch’,” which was very gratifying.” For more information about any of the services provided by State of the Heart, visit the agency web site at www.stateoftheheartcare.org.
