GCS Looking to Improve Harmon Field, Transfer Ownership

I reached out to Fred Matix and Sue Bowman of the Greenville City Schools Board of Education regarding a potential change in ownership of Harmon Field that some have inquired about. Below is the response I received from Fred and Sue regarding the district's plans...
There has been discussion and work towards a transfer of some of the lands surrounding the high school. The City of Greenville owns the lands currently and it would be a government to government transfer which is perfectly legal within the Ohio Revised Code. Over the years, the school district has provided much of the maintenance and devoted much time and dollars to these properties. Now the district has the opportunity to improve the overall look and create a better place for the citizens of Greenville by the use of a grant hopefully. However, one of the stipulations of said grant is that the district has direct ownership of the property and not be simply a lessor.

This could become a focal part of the park and enhance the area around the high school. The City of Greenville and the Greenville School District are working hand-in-hand to create a benefit to each and every resident who uses the park and its surrounding areas. Nothing would occur until all parties are in harmony.
