NOVEMBER HAPPENINGS AT THE Y!

GREENVILLE, OH – The weather has turned colder and people are looking for ways to move their fitness routine inside. The Y is offering an Election Day Membership Promotion. The Y focuses on three areas; Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. On Tuesday, November 6th, the Y is encouraging Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. “We feel that this election is critical for our country,” stated Greenville Operations Director, Christy Baker. “We want our community to evaluate what is important to them, do some research on what the candidates are for, dig into the issues, and make an informed decision when you vote. We also want our community to be healthy and active. An Election Day Membership Promotion is a good way to encourage and promote several focus areas that are important to us.” The Y will waive the Joiner’s Fee on any new membership on Tuesday, November 6th.

On Saturday, November 10th from 10:00-11:00 am the Greenville Y will offer a “Thai for Two Workshop”. Thai Yoga, also known as assisted Yoga, allows partners to effectively and safely help each other to stretch and strengthen muscles and joints in order to prevent injury, increase range of motion, increase flexibility, reduce muscle and joint pain, and boost energy levels. This workshop is perfect for spouses, running or workout partners, and anyone with chronic muscle/joint pain. The workshop will include a short education piece followed by practical, hands-on stretching. Cost for this workshop is $20/team of two people. For more information contact the Y’s Licensed Massage Therapist, Melissa Laux at 937-417-7068.

The holidays are right around the corner and what parent couldn’t use a night out or a quiet night in without the kids? Let the Y help! On Friday, November 16th from 6:00-9:00 pm kids will have a blast at the Y with a night of swimming, games, and snacks. Each child must bring a swimsuit and towel as well as gym clothes and gym shoes. Cost is $5 for Y members and only $12 for all others. Children must be registered by 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 15th.

For more information about membership or programs, visit us online at www.ymcadarkecounty.org or call the Y at 548-3777.

The Y works every day to strengthen the foundation of our community through Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.
