WHIOtv.com: Versailles' Prakel A Finalist for National High School Heisman Award

Steve Baker and WHIO were at Versailles Schools this week as Sam Prakel was announced as a finalist for the Wendy's Heisman Award Program. Sam is one of 12 applicants remaining in a field that began with over 48,000 students. Sam is one of 6 boys remaining, one of which will be announced as the winner on December 9th on a special on ESPN2 that will take place in New York City. If he wins, $10,000 will be donated to Versailles. This would be in addition to the $2,000 donation that came with Sam being named a finalist.

According to the contest's website, Sam also has cumulatively won $675 in Wendy's gift cards through the contest's various stages! That's a lot of Baconators!

Sam won his second state title in boys cross country this year and was already named Gatorade's boy's cross county runner of the year for Ohio.
