A Candle Light Communion Service will be held on December 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Oakland Church of the Brethren. Communion is open to all who come. The service will be short, informal and with major emphasis on the communion. Individuals,families, and small groups will be invited to come to the tables together.
Following that service at approximately 8:15 p.m. there will be a service of Remembrance for those who have experienced loss or who are simply struggling with the holidays for a variety of reasons. This too will be fairly short, informal and participatory for those who are present. This service will feature songs, appropriate Scriptures, candle lighting, and comments as folks are comfortable to share.
People are also invited to come on December 24 at 7:30 p.m. for Oakland’s Christmas Eve Service that will feature a Christmas pageant, the choir along with congregational singing, Scripture and a short message.
