JANUARY SPECIAL TIME TO DECLARE ‘I AM A BLOOD DONOR’

CBC CELEBRATES NATIONAL BLOOD DONOR MONTH WITH LONG-SLEEVE T-SHIRT

Community Blood Center (CBC) is celebrating January National Volunteer Blood Donor Month and thanking donors for their dedication to helping save lives with the special long-sleeve “I Am a Blood Donor” t-shirt.

The long-sleeve t-shirt is free to everyone who registers to donate at any CBC branch and most mobile blood drives now through Saturday, January 26. The creative white-lettered design on the black t-shirt declares “I Am a Heroic, Rock Star, Wonderful, Life Saving Blood Donor.”

Plus everyone who registers to donate during “Darke County Donor Days”, at any Darke County Blood Drive is automatically entered into a drawing for four special prizes: A Kindle Fire, an iPod Touch, a Vizio 32-inch TV, or a Nikon Cool Pix camera. Four winners will be drawn at the end of January. (Donors can enter the drawing only once during the campaign).

CBC is joining blood centers across the nation in celebrating January as National Volunteer Blood Donor Month. The “I Am a Blood Donor” campaign theme recognizes donors for their strength of commitment, heroic efforts to help others, and the satisfaction that comes with identifying yourself as a blood donor.

January has been declared National Volunteer Blood Donor Month since 1970. It is the month that presents the most challenges in recruiting people to give blood. Winter weather, holiday schedules, increased cases of cold and flu, and even the winter blues can keep the most dedicated blood donors from making or keeping an appointment to give.
