Versailles Bowlers Continue Success

Versailles Boys Varsity Defeats Van Wert

The Varsity Boys Bowlers rolled over Van Wert in WOHSBC action to increase their record to 9-3. The match was held at Ottawa Lanes in Ottawa, Ohio. The Tigers got off to an early lead with a 1,026 to 898 first game. The second game was not much different with Versailles winning that game 997 to 907. With a 218 pin lead going into the Baker Games, things were looking very good. The boys continued to roll the ball pretty good winning 4 out of 5 Baker Games, 215-123, 179-140, 160-223, 186-169 and 181-147. The final score was Versailles 2,944 to Van Wert 2,607. Leading scorers for the Tigers were Michael Davidson 254-207, Ben Ahrens 248, Jordan Groff 209 and Nathan Peters 200.

“These boys are really starting to put things together. Our next two matches, we really need to bring it as we face St. Henry and Coldwater.” Saturday, January 26th will be the Tigers home match with the day starting out at 10:00 am where the Tigers will face St. henry. The girls varsity will conclude the day bowling the 3:30 shift.

The 3rd Annual Ladies Auxiliary Eagles Breakfast to benefit the Versailles High School Bowling Program is set for January 27th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The bowling team and coaches will be on hand to serve you! Tickets for a 42” LED HDTV or an Apple iPad will also be available. The drawing will be at 12:00 pm.

Versailles Girls Varsity Remain in 1st Place

Going into week 10, the Lady Tigers remained undefeated with the 2012 State Champion Coldwater Cavaliers. Versailles was set to face off against the Van Wert Cougars. The Tigers started off on fire rolling a 911 to Van Werts’s 649. The 2nd game also went to Versailles 846 to 645. The Baker Games all went to Versailles as well, 148-140, 191-132, 191-170, 149-103 and 161-143. “One of the areas the girls need to improve on the rest of the year is their Baker Games. They showed great signs of this by averaging 168 today in the Bakers, up 12 pins from their season average.” Said Coach Phlipot

Leading scorers for the Tigers were Brooke Wehrkamp 247-201, Paige Holsapple 201, Megan Monnin 189 and Danielle Cochran 175. The girls improved their record to 10-0. They will be hosting the match this Saturday at McBo’s Lanes in Versailles. Their match will be at 3:30 p.m. against the Mississinawa Valley Blackhawks. The boys varsity will be taking on St. Henry at 10:00 am.
