DCCA ANNOUNCES NEW ST. PATRICK'S DAY EVENT

Darke County Center for the Arts has planned a new event they've named “Irish Wave” to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and raise funds to support the organization's many programs. The festivities, which include music, food, and beer tasting, will take place at Turtle Creek Golf Club, 6545 U.S. Route 36 East, Greenville, on Friday, March 8; the doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Beers to be tasted are from the Cincinnati's Mt. Carmel Brewery; eight tastes are included in the price of admission. The extensive food list provided by Turtle Creek's kitchen will reflect the Irish theme of the party, featuring various potato preparations and traditional fare such as corned beef, smoked salmon, and soda bread among the many culinary offerings. Additionally, Irish cocktail specials and wine will be offered at the cash bar.

According to DCCA Artistic Director Keith Rawlins, the music will be provided by Brigid's Cross, a duo who perform an eclectic selection of Irish music ranging from traditional to contemporary. “Paul Baker and Peggy Goonan-Baker, the members of Brigid's Cross, are wonderful musicians who have such a good time performing that the audience can't help but join in the fun,” Mr. Rawlins stated. Both artists perform vocals, with Paul also playing the fiddle and Peggy on the keyboard and bodhran. Sponsors for “Irish Wave” who make possible the performance by Brigid's Cross are Second National Bank, and Edward Jones Investment representatives Dave Connelly, Steve Litchfield, Todd Subler, and Bill Wolke, and Andria Haworth, as well as Tom and Suzie Brown, and Zechar-Bailey Funeral Home.

According to Andrea Jordan, DCCA Executive Director, ticket numbers are limited. “We expect this festive event to sell out, so I urge anyone who wishes to attend to get their tickets as soon as possible,” said Mrs. Jordan. Tickets for “Irish Wave” are $35, and can be purchased at Turtle Creek Golf Club or by contacting DCCA at 937-547-0908 or on-line at www.centerforarts.net.
