The 41st Anniversary season of The Greenville Girls Softball Association is just around the corner. Leagues for all ages are available at the Stebbins Field location on State Route 49 North in Greenville. The Greenville Girls Softball Association continues to offer Slow Pitch and Fast Pitch Softball to all Darke County Girls. The organization is going strong and growing with nearly 600 girls participating throughout the summer and fall in 2012. Stebbins Field hosted over 800 officially played softball games in 2012.
Leagues offered include Slow-Pitch leagues, T-Ball (4-6 yrs old), Munchkin (7-8 yrs), Minor (9-10 yrs), Junior (11-13 yrs), and Senior (14-18 yrs) leagues. The Slow Pitch leagues are geared toward having fun while learning the importance of team work and sportsmanship. GGSA Slow Pitch Leagues are open to ALL Darke County girls.
Fast pitch leagues are offered to all Greenville girls and also girls outside the Greenville School District who are not offered to play in the Cross County Fast Pitch League that Greenville is currently a part of. Fast Pitch is offered to girls in grades, 3rd & 4th, 5th & 6th, and 7th & 8th grades. The traveling fast pitch league, called the Cross County Fast Pitch League, has many Darke County community teams as well as teams from Miami and Preble counties. The league is strictly a recreational league and is intended to teach the girls the fundamentals of fast pitch softball. All three leagues end with a season ending league tournament hosted by one of the communities entered in each league.
GGSA Girls may play BOTH Slow Pitch and Fast Pitch and are required to pay the league fee just once OR participate in the GGSA annual fundraiser and meet the fundraiser goals.
