State of the Heart Hires Three Employees for new Hospice Unit

Left to Right: Cheryl Swallow, Amy Campbell, and Gil Hawk
State of the Heart Hospice has announced the hiring of three new employees who will be part of the staff at the nonprofit agency’s hospice inpatient unit at Wayne HealthCare in Greenville. State of the Heart provides care to patients and families in eastern Indiana and western Ohio that are confronting a life limiting illness. All three employees will be staff nurses in the new unit which will open later this spring.

Gill Hawk, of Pleasant Hill, was with Wayne Healthcare for ten years working in the emergency room, advanced cardiac life support, and pediatric advanced life support. He and his wife Anita have one son. In his free time, Hawk enjoys amateur radio, building lego technics and raising chickens.

Another nurse joining the inpatient unit team is Cheryl Swallow of Versailles. “I was looking for a new challenge in my life,” she said. She has worked for approximately 20 years in a hospital emergency room, and several years in a doctor’s office. She and her husband Steve have three children and six grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys “being a grandmother and being with her family.”

The third nurse to join the team is Amy Campbell of New Madison. She is looking forward to a new work environment, one where she will be able to spend more time with patients. In the past, she has worked as a nurse in acute and progressive care units.
