State of the Heart Hospice Hires Five Employees for Greenville Office

State of the Heart Hospice has announced the hiring of five new employees for the agency’s Greenville office. The nonprofit agency which also has offices in Coldwater and Portland cares for patients and families in eastern Indiana and western Ohio who are confronting a life limiting illness.

Two of the new employees will work in the agency’s Care Center which opens later this spring at Wayne HealthCare. Tricia Huffgarden, of Arcanum, will be a part time STNA in the new unit, and Emily Smith, of Greenville, will be a hospice aide in the Care Center.

Huffgarden has ten years of employment in the medical field and has been a State Tested Nursing Aide for two years. “I am looking forward to working closely with patients and their families during their biggest time of need,” Huffgarden said.

Smith has been a State Tested Nursing Aide for ten years and has worked in both hospital and long term care settings. “I have heard about hospice care and seen a lot of good things that hospice does,” she said. “I am looking forward to being able to give more time to the patient and to their family.”


Megan Hill has been hired as a nursing assistant and will work from the Greenville office. She has been a nursing assistant for four years and is continuing her education for her RN at Edison Community College. “I have heard so many wonderful things about hospice,” she stated. “I’m ready to start my journey with State of the Heart by providing comfort and a good experience for patients and families.”

Brittney Landes, of Eldorado, was hired as an STNA working from the Greenville office. She has been a State Tested Nursing Aide for three years. “I like the patient and family interaction that hospice care provides,” she stated.

Dan North, of Greenville, has been hired as an STNA for Greenville. He has worked four years as a State Tested Nursing Aide and is certified to work in both Ohio and Indiana. “I am looking forward to working with State of the Heart as the agency has high standards of patient care. It is known as a quality organization,” he said.
