WHIOtv.com: Michael and Melody Fisher Stand Trial in Shooting Death of Their Son

UPDATE 4/5/2013: WHIO's Steve Baker now reports that a verdict has been given in the trial.

Melody and Michael Fisher were found guilty on the charge of child endangering and will be sentenced on April 23rd.

The charge of involuntary manslaughter resulted in a hung jury. They could face a second trial if the Darke County Prosecutors choose to. No indication has been made if a second trial will take place.

WHIOtv.com's Steve Baker was in the court room yesterday as a trial got underway the parents of a boy who accidentally shot and killed himself in their Darke County home in 2011.

Michael and Melody Fisher face charges of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment and face a possible maximum of 14 years in prison if found guilty on both charges.

According to the prosecution (as shown in the video report found here), deputies found close to 80 unsecured firearms around the home with ammunition when they arrived on the scene.

Today is the second day of the trial, which is expected to last through tomorrow.
