Versailles YMCA and Village Join Forces for Summer

When community-minded organizations work together, great benefits spring up! This summer, the YMCA will offer a water fitness class, “Aqua Zumba®” in the Versailles outdoor pool.

“We’ve been offering Aqua Zumba in our Y pool, and the people really enjoy it, but they said they’d like to take it outside for the summer, so, we communicated with the village, and here we are!” shared instructor Lynn Blakeley.

Aqua Zumba® will take place on Mondays from 5:15-6:00PM during the pool’s normal shutdown time. Pool Manager Sally Brewer, who is also Aquatics Coordinator for the Versailles Y Branch, has helped bridge the discussion between the two groups.

An additional collaboration is in the works for the Y to hold youth pick-up games, such as Kickball and Ultimate Frisbee on Tuesdays at 11:30AM at the Village’s parks, led by YMCA Sports Director Daniel Tinch. Call the Y at 526-4488 for details.

The Y works every day to strengthen the foundation of our community through Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. The YMCA of Darke County is a non-profit membership association of over 4,800 members with facilities in Versailles and Greenville. The mission of the YMCA of Darke County is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.
