PRIDE ON THE LINE AT GRUDGE MATCH BLOOD DRIVE

DONATE & VOTE FOR ANSONIA OR MISSISSINAWA VALLY FFA JUNE 24

Ansonia receives the 2012 trophy from Mississinawa
Valley (L-R) Ansonia’s Courtney Turner, Kelli Sewell,
Mississinawa’s Kelsi Amspaugh, Mackinzi Marker.
DARKE CO., Ohio – School is out for summer, and that means no more homework, no more books and no more high school blood drives. Not true in Darke County! Ansonia and Mississinawa Valley High Schools are such serious rivals they hold a grudge all summer long. They’ll compete for blood donation bragging rights once again in the fourth annual FFA Blood & Guts Grudge Match Blood Drive Monday, June 24 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the MVHS Jackson Gym.

This annual Grudge Match Blood Drive gives a meaningful boost to Community Blood Center (CBC) and the summer blood supply. Summer is always a challenge because schools are on summer break, families are vacationing and many donors are busy with outdoor activities. The Grudge Match not only boosts the blood supply, it also provides some drama!

The drive location alternates between the schools and the trophy seems to follow the home team. Ansonia hosted last year and won by just six “votes”. Mississinawa Valley was the champion – at home – the previous year, following Ansonia’s home win in the first Grudge Match. As host of this year’s competition, MVHS could be considered “the favorite” but this year Ansonia could reverse the trend.
You can schedule an appointment on line at www.DonorTime.com or contact CBC Rep. Dana Puterbaugh at (937) 997-2199 or at dputerbaugh@cbccts.org. Ansonia’s contact is Mr. Lentz at (937) 337-5591, ext. 2316. Mississinawa Valley’s contact is Ms. Hartzell at (937) 968-4464, ext. 2476.

Everyone who registers to donate will receive a free “King of the Road Summer Blood Drive” t-shirt and will be automatically entered in a drawing to win a Harley-Davidson Road King Classic motorcycle.

Ten computer-selected finalists will be invited to a special envelope-opening announcement event in September to discover the Road King winner. (Must be 18 to win. Official rules available at www.givingblood.org.
