Teen Programs at Library

The Greenville Public Library's Teen Programs are in full swing. Local artist Paul Ackley kicked off the summer with an Introduction to Drawing class on Tuesday June 11. Students followed his instructions to create several interesting cartoons.

A graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Paul has been an active Editorial Cartoonist for over 30 years. In 2009 and 2010 he was awarded “Best Editorial Cartoonist” by the Ohio Associated Press. In 2010 he received the Good Citizen Award for his Editorial Cartoons from the Ohio House of Representatives. He is a proud tribal member of the Sokaogon Chippewa Community if Northern Wisconsin.

Next on the agenda is a free concert by DA Music Studios on Sat. June 22 at 4:00 p.m. on the Library lawn. D.A. Music Studios teaches adults and children to play instruments such as guitar, bass guitar, drums, piano, violin, and school band instruments, as well as music theory and composition. They also hold band classes to teach students how to perform in front of an audience as a group. The student bands perform at The Great Darke Co. Fair, The Farm Power of the Past, festivals, parties, and the Greenville City Park Bandshell.

Young Adult (YA) Librarian Reuben Kennett also invites teens age 11-18 to join Summer Reading to win prizes; and to attend “Teen Thursdays” at 3:00 for snacks, crafts, games, and cartoons. For more info call 548-3915.
