On Saturday, June 29th, Brethren Retirement Community had some special visitors, Former New England Patriot’s linebacker and Greenville High School graduate, Matt Light, along with his management team, and 14 young men participating in The Light Foundation Leadership Camp.
While on our campus, these young men played BINGO with our residents, grilled hamburgers for their lunch and finished the day fishing with our residents, lending a hand when needed. One of the BINGO participants was Matt’s Cub Scout Den Mother, Emma Enicks. For many of these young men, it was their first visit to a retirement community and a great opportunity to interact with older adults and hear their stories and for our residents to learn about their lives and hopes for the future.
The Light Foundation’s leadership camp works with disadvantaged youth, teaching them to serve something bigger than themselves to become great citizens, great neighbors, and great friends.
