Osgood Couple Win State of the Heart Hospice 2,500 Cruise Raffle Prize for Cruise of Their Choice

You might say that Dennis and Marilyn Winner’s name was somewhat prophetic as they were the winners of the State of the Heart Hospice cruise which was raffled off this summer with the winning ticket drawn at the nonprofit agency’s annual golf outing held June 7 at the Stillwater Valley Golf Club in Versailles.

“We were totally surprised,” said Mr. Winner of Osgood. He and his wife were visiting AAA Travel in Greenville when they were asked about purchasing a ticket for the cruise. “We thought it was a good idea as it would help the local hospice program,” Mr. Winner said.

Proceeds from the raffle and the golf outing will go to help fund the agency’s new Care Center at Wayne HealthCare. The cruise vacation package will be arranged by AAA Travel, 302 S. Broadway and will be on one of the Royal Caribbean International’s luxury ships. The local travel service partnered with State of the Heart on the cruise raffle and package.

“We appreciated the involvement and participation of AAA Travel,” stated Ryan Gathard, Fund Development Director for State of the Heart. “The raffle was a great part of our golf outing.”


The “surprise” win for the Winners will come in handy, they said. “We were planning to do a cruise or something for our 50th wedding anniversary in November,” Mrs. Winner said. “We are not sure where we are going, but it will be somewhere warm,” Mr. Winner said.
