NEW FACILITY IS A COOPERATIVE AFFILIATION WITH PREMIER HEALTH AND DAYTON PHYSICIANS NETWORK
GREENVILLE, Ohio – A Community Opening House will take place on Sunday, July 14, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. Community members are invited to meet the staff, tour the facility, receive free health information and enjoy light refreshments. Wayne Cancer Center is located at 1111 Sweitzer St., Greenville, OH, 45331.
A cooperative affiliation with Premier Health, Dayton Physicians Network and Wayne HealthCare, the Wayne Cancer Center brings advance technologies and medical expertise to those needing cancer services and other related specialties to the Wayne HealthCare community. The facility’s design focuses on patients and families, both their comfort and quality of care.
“Wayne HealthCare can now offer a one-stop treatment choice for our community members close to home,” said Wayne Deschambeau, President and CEO of Wayne HealthCare. “In addition to a modern facility designed for patients and families care and comfort, an expanded group of sub-specialty trained physicians are on-hand to provide the highest quality of care,” he added.
The Wayne Cancer Center and Medical Office Building, located just south of Wayne HealthCare’s main campus, will offer medical and radiation oncology, hematology, and urology services. The 13,800 square foot building contains physician offices, exam rooms, a chemotherapy area with 6 infusion bays, a pharmacy, laboratory, and a linear accelerator for radiation therapy. In addition, the Cancer Association of Darke County will have office space in the front of the building.
Available at the Wayne Cancer Center, a linear accelerator enables oncologists to more accurately target a tumor with higher doses of radiation, while minimizing damage to healthy tissue and nearby organs, resulting in a lower risk of side effects typically associated with radiation treatment. “We look forward to our partnership with Wayne HealthCare in providing a greater array of services to the community,” explained Dr. Charles Bane, President of Dayton Physicians. “The fight against cancer can be a lengthy process. This facility staffed with an expanded team of physicians and coupled with convenient access truly elevates the level of care available for the Greenville community and the entire Darke County.
Dr. Daniel McKellar, M.D., FACS, noted, “Whether a patient’s treatment calls for chemotherapy or radiation, the Wayne Cancer Center can now accommodate their needs. Everything the patient requires for their care can be addressed right at the Center from laboratory work and pharmaceutical needs to precision delivery of cancer fighting treatment options.”
“Having access to quality healthcare close to home is important for any community. Premier Health is pleased we could be a part of this project which has expanded medical services in Darke County,” said Jim Pancoast, President and CEO of Premier Health. “By working together, we have been able to provide this local community a cancer center staffed by a variety of specialists, designed to benefit patients and their families.”
The $5 million project was completed within budget and on schedule.
