AREA BLOOD DRIVES TO SUPPORT LIGHT THE NIGHT

DONORS CAN JOIN THE FIGHT AGAINST BLOOD DISEASE

Darke County blood drives are partnering with Community Blood Center (CBC) in support of the Leukemia & Lymphoma (LLS) Society Light The Night Walk by hosting community blood drives. Everyone who registers to donate will receive a LLS “Relentless” bracelet and CBC will make a donation to Light The Night in their name. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment online at www.DonorTime.com. Locally donors can contact Dana Puterbaugh, Darke County Account Representative at 937-997-2199 or dputerbaugh@givingblood.org.

CBC is proud to be a presenting sponsor of the 2013 Light The Night Walk, Thursday, Oct. 3 at Fraze Pavilion in Kettering. CBC’s donation to LLS will be in the names of everyone who registers to donate blood with CBC Monday, Sept. 16 through Saturday, September 28. Everyone who registers to donate at a CBC mobile blood drive will receive a red LLS “Relentless” bracelet as a sign of appreciation from LLS and an encouragement to join the Light the Night Walk.

Supporters can register online at www.lightthenight.org. You can form a team, create a fundraising page, and take the challenge to raise at least $100 to become a Champion for Cures. Any donation is welcome, and all are invited to be part of the Light The Night Walk.

Blood donors share a special bond with patients battling blood cancer. Nearly all leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma patients will need a blood transfusion at some point in their journey. Chemotherapy and other treatments have a harsh impact on blood cells. Transfusions of donated blood can reduce complications and save lives.
