BALLADEERS WILD CARROT OPEN DCCA COFFEEHOUSE SEASON

Folk duo Wild Carrot opens the DCCA Coffeehouse
Series on Thursday, September 19 @ 7 pm at the Wayne Trail
Historical Society House in Arcanum.
Darke County Center for the Arts will open their Coffeehouse Series on Thursday, September 19 with a concert by contemporary folk duo Wild Carrot at the Wayne Trail Historical Society House, 124 West George Street, Arcanum. Made up of award-winning Cincinnati-based balladeers Pam Temple and Spencer Funk, Wild Carrot will perform an eclectic mix of original and traditional folk music, classic standards, swing, jazz, and blues. The show starts at 7 p.m.

“The intimate setting at the Arcanum Historical Society House is perfect for Wild Carrot,” said Keith Rawlins, DCCA Artistic Director. “Pam and Spencer bring a joy and energy to the stage that connects with audiences of all ages, making listeners feel like they are in a conversation with old friends,” Mr. Rawlins explained. The DCCA official went on to say that Pam Temple has a warm, clear, and beautiful voice that is perfectly complemented by Spencer Funk's distinctive playing and obvious technical skill. “The music of Wild Carrot is honest, uplifting, fun, and moving, all at the same time; this will be a great show,” Rawlins stated.

DCCA's Coffeehouse Series offers the opportunity for audiences to enjoy high-quality artists performing in a comfortable social setting where food and drink are served. “People get together with old friends and make new ones at the Coffeehouse shows,” Rawlins commented. “It's cozy, informal, and laid back, but the performances are as good as any you'll see in a formal concert hall,” he concluded.

DCCA's Coffeehouse Series is sponsored by Julie and Tom Graber, Eileen and Steve Litchfield, and Rodney Oda. Additionally, the Ohio Arts Council helped fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans. DCCA also receives operating support from the Harry D. and Esther Stephens Memorial as well as funding from the Ketrow Foundation, Lydia E. Schaurer Memorial Trust Fund.

Tickets for the Wild Carrot show at the Historical Society House are $10, and may be reserved by contacting DCCA online at www.CenterForArts.net or by calling 937-547-0908. Tickets are also available at the Ben Franklin store in Arcanum and will be sold at the door if any remain by showtime.

Wild Carrot will also be performing for kindergarten through third graders in all local public schools during the week of September 16 as part of DCCA's Arts In Education program. These shows are free and open to the public; performance times and schedules are arranged in cooperation with the schools; contact DCCA for more information.
