Family and Friends to Honor Darke County Woman on Her 100th Birthday

Betty Seman, born Elizabeth Caroline Dohme, will be honored on her 100th birthday, September 25, 2013, at Rest Haven Nursing Home. At 10 a.m, a small motorcade will drive Betty down Broadway where family and friends will wave from the sidelines. On Saturday, September 28, from 2 to 4 p.m, an open house reception at Rest Haven will continue the celebration to include out-of-town children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Born in Greenville to Charlotte and Dan Dohme, Betty graduated from Greenville High School and attended the Dayton Art Institute. She was lead artist for Neff Lettering Company. She and her husband Glenn operated The Copper Kettle print shop and the Big G bike shop in the 60's and 70's. An avid doll collector, Betty donated a number of her "storybook" dolls to the Greenville Public Library. She is a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Betty's two children, Gary Brown and Judy Brown Vredenburg, are also graduates of GHS, '60 and '56, respectively. She has five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, with another on the way. She has many devoted nieces and nephews in Greenville, Cleveland, and Las Vegas, NV.
