Ladies Golf Group Donates Funds To State of the Heart Hospice Care Center
The golf group has been in existence for a number of years under a variety of names, explained Bev Moore, a team member. There were remaining funds left in the treasury and the group decided to donate the money to State of the Heart.
“Many of us who golf in the group have golfed in the State of the Heart Golfing Outing every year,” Moore explained, adding, “so we were all familiar with State of the Heart and the service the agency provides our community. We wanted State of the Heart to use the funds as they saw fit.”
Ryan Gathard, Fund Development Director for State of the Heart, stated, “This show of support is greatly appreciated by all of us at State of the Heart. The gift expresses a loyalty and belief in our mission.” A portion of the funds will go toward purchasing a microwave for the patient care lounge. The lounge is for family members who want to remain close to their loved one in the care center. There is a couch that makes into a bed in the lounge, and a refrigerator, and coffee is available. The microwave is a needed addition, Gathard said.
The State of the Heart Care Center, which opened in July,, has five private patient rooms, a shower and bath for family members, and is open seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
