MVCTC Early Childhood Program Raise Money for FCCLA Project
Students in the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Early Childhood Education junior program completed a FCCLA Chapter Community Service Project at the very beginning of the school year. The project was to work together to raise money for their Literacy Project for FCCLA.
FCCLA Chapter Service Project and Community Service, is a team event, which recognizes chapters that develop and implement an in-depth service project that makes a worthwhile contribution to families, schools, and communities. Students must use Family and Consumer Sciences content and skills to address and take action on a community need. The Early Childhood Juniors raised $281for their Literacy project for FCCLA. They sold dress down day tickets for a dollar to the Health and Consumer Sciences classes. The money raised will be used to buy books for various preschool programs in the area as well as shelters.
The MVCTC students involved with the project included: Ashley Bergin (Tri-County North); Alexus Foster (Northmont); Kaitlin Fourman (Tri-Village); Aly Moberly (Brookville); Kiley Myers (Versailles); and Logan Weikert (Bethel).
The FCCLA Chapter at MVCTC includes students in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Services, and Early Childhood Education. Students under the guidance of advisors, Connie Marshal and Darnice Wilkinson, have a busy year planned with the FCCLA Capital Leadership Training in Washington D.C. this October, FCCLA Fall Leadership Camp, FCCLA National Meeting in November, Local, Regional, State, and National competitions in the spring.
