Mr. Jerry McClannan, Chief Volunteer Officer (Chair of the Board of Directors) of the Darke County YMCA announced Friday that the Y has been engaged in a nationwide search for a new CEO and the CEO Search Committee completed their work and made a recommendation to the Board of Directors. Mr. McClannan is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has approved the hiring of Sam Casalano, Chief Executive Officer
Sam is currently the Associate Executive Director at the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA in Sidney, Ohio. Sam has had an extensive career with the Sidney Shelby County YMCA for 23 years. Sam brings a wealth and depth of knowledge, professionalism and passion for the YMCA.
Sam began his career as the gymnastics coach growing the program to 300+ youth each year. In 1996 he added to his responsibilities as program director of kinetics, youth and aquatics. They continued to add to his job responsibilities as a Senior Program director-directing all areas of their YMCA programming. He continued his career and advanced to the position of Operations Director, to include all programs as well as facility, maintenance, and member service. In 2006 Sam again increased his responsibilities as the Associate Executive Director where he supervised 100 staff members, human resource management, and staff campaign chair in addition to previous responsibilities. Sam balanced a 2.1 million dollar operating budget.
Sam has served in leadership roles within the Y as well as the community. He served on the American Cancer Society Of Shelby County Board of Directors, the Senior Center of Sidney Board of Directors, United Way Board of Directors, and American Academy for Human Development Board of Directors.
Sam has a Bachelor of Science degree in computer programming, and engineering and also attended Wright State in graduate work. He holds several professional certifications inside and outside the YMCA.

Sam has a love for soccer, gymnastics and is an accomplished fine artist as well as fluent in four languages.
