A Darke County Home Was Destroyed in a Fire on Saturday Night

All that's left of the home
Saturday night was another busy one for local fire departments as up to 50 firefighters from 10 departments were called to the scene of a house fire on 571 west of Greenville.

The home was completely destroyed, but the residents made it out safely thanks to a passing motorist who stopped and alerted them to the fire. According to WHIO, the cause of the fire is still unknown, but it was determined that the family's smoke detectors were inoperable.

Remember our story from this weekend about Operation Christmas Cheer? Those folks, in the midst of finalizing wrapping and delivery of gifts for more than 180 Darke County kids, are organizing help for the displaced family who escaped the fire with just the clothes on their backs.
