Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey announced today that additional deputies will be assigned to work targeted areas during the upcoming Christmas and New Year Holidays. Traditionally the Christmas Holiday is a time for people to get together with family and friends, and many work related Christmas activities. Additional Deputies will be on patrol during the next few weeks and will be specifically focusing on impaired driving, along with aggressive driving, distracted driving, and seatbelt enforcement. Deputies will be assigned to specific Townships, these being Franklin, Jefferson, Butler, Gibson, and Recovery Townships.
Sheriff Grey States “The goal is to keep the motoring public safe, not to ruin Christmas and New Year celebrations. The Purpose is for Deputies to be visible and hopefully deter bad driving.” Sheriff Grey reminds motorists to “Never drive while being impaired, and always wear your seatbelts. Never text while driving and direct your full attention to your driving and the roadway.” Sheriff Grey states Christmas and New Year is a time for family, and the Sheriff’s Office goal is to keep our motorist safe.
