HOPE Scholarship Applications Due April 1

Seniors from the class of 2014 who live in Darke County and attend a Darke County High School or are home-schooled may apply for scholarships from the HOPE Foundation of Darke County. Application deadline is April 1, 2014. Students who are planning to attend a 2-year or 4-year accredited college are eligible to apply. By filling out one general application, students are eligible for approximately 50 scholarships totaling over $80,000.

Students may print the application from the HOPE Foundation website, http://www.hopedarkecounty.com/application.html or see their high school guidance counselor. Awards are based on the following criteria, not necessarily in this order: grade point average, ACT score, activities, financial need, and essay. ACT score is not required for 2-year school scholarships. Provisional recipients will be announced at each high school’s graduation or awards program. Scholarship money will be disbursed following the student’s first semester in college, providing the student earns at least a 2.75 grade point average.

Since 1986, the HOPE Foundation has awarded over $1 million to Darke County students. As the community foundation of Darke County, HOPE (Helping Other People Excel) is dedicated to improving the quality of life for Darke County residents by receiving, managing and distributing charitable gifts.
