The Darke County Board of DD and Darke County Special Olympics are partnering to celebrate the success of The Warriors, Slammers and Dawgs Special Olympics basketball teams for the 2014 season. March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in the State of Ohio, and what a great time to recognize all of these athletes who represent Darke County in spectacular fashion. “Ability @ Work” is the theme for Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month 2014. The Darke County Board of DD, Darke County Special Olympics and other related organizations celebrate and invite you to consider the true meaning of this year’s theme “Ability @ Work”.
On Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 6:30 p.m., the Versailles School District will host an exhibition of skills with local citizens, educators and business people partnering with each of the three Special Olympics teams for a friendly game of basketball. The game will be held at the Versailles Middle School gym.
Please come out and join us for an evening of fun and connecting of citizens of Darke County. We encourage people to learn more about the people in this county who have developmental disabilities, and to recognize that all of us have talents and abilities that we can offer to make our community a better place to live.
The event is free, however donations of any amount are welcome and all proceeds will benefit Darke County Special Olympics. Please contact the Darke County Board of DD at (937) 548-9057 or email ericl@darkedd.org for more information.
