Students and staff from the Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) recognized November as the March of Dimes “Prematurity Awareness month”. A fundraiser organized by MVCTC staff members Kelly Haws and Cora Ullery, called “Blue Jeans for Babies” was held in November. Staff and students who donated $1 received a March of Dimes wristband or sticker (their choice). The wristband/sticker entitled students and staff to wear jeans/team shirts/jerseys on a specified date.

The March of Dimes supports lifesaving research and innovative programs that save babies from prematurity, birth defects, and other infant health problems. Complications during pregnancy or delivery are frightening. Thanks to the March of Dimes, great advances are being made in preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

This fundraiser has been held at MVCTC since the mid 1990’s and has raised thousands of dollars for the local March of Dimes. This year, students and staff donated over $930.
