State of the Heart Hospice is hosting a six week Adult Grief Support Group series beginning Wednesday, April 2 and ending May 7 at the agency’s office, 1350 N. Broadway in Greenville. The sessions are each Wednesday night during that time period and will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. in the evening.
“The meetings are particularly good for those who have lost a loved one and are grieving and need help dealing with their grief,” stated Terri Wehrley-Pyles, a State of the Heart Licensed Social Worker. Darlene Pearson, also a Licensed Social Worker with the agency, will be the co-facilitator. Both social workers have experience in bereavement support. The sessions are free and are open to anyone in the community who is dealing with grief. She added that “a person need not have an association with hospice care.”
Wehrley-Pyles stated that the Adult Grief Support groups are helpful and offer the opportunity for those grieving to share their loss, and hear of how others feel. “Talking about your grief and finding that you are not alone in your grief is helpful to people who have lost a loved one,” she said.
State of the Heart, with offices in Greenville, Portland and Coldwater, cares for families and patients in eastern Indiana and western Ohio who are confronting a life-limiting illness. Bereavement support is an important part of the care provided by State of the Heart.
