“Sunday Afternoons at the Museum” Continue

Our new season will continue on Sunday March 23 at 2:00 p.m. as we will host renowned author and historian (not to mention Versailles Area Historical Society Board member), Mary Ann Olding on the history of what has been called “The French Crescent” Mary Ann’s expertise on French immigration, especially on the areas between Russia, St. Valbert, and Frenchtown and those who came to settle this region. Mary Ann’s travels back to the old country as well as her connections there gives her great and unique in depth knowledge of the region and its people then and now. Why did they choose here to settle? Why did so many come? Why was their faith so important? This is sure to be an interesting afternoon to all of those with French connections and to their neighbors as well!

On Sunday April 27th we will travel with another Versailles author as we welcome Bill Schutte to share his book “The Mountain Slayer; A Journey on the Appalachian Trail”. This inspiring story will tell about Bills amazing journey. Bill may also have a few books available to sign!

Each program will be held at the Museum and will begin at 2:00 p.m. Make plans to bring your friends and enjoy our speakers and the new displays always popping up at the museum. Our season is free, but your generous donations as well as your membership are most appreciated and keep our museum open. We will serve light refreshments following each speaking event.

Join us for “Last Mondays”

This new activity will be held the last Monday of each month at 1:00 p.m. These gatherings are designed for our more “senior” friends who will enjoy various activities from picture identification, to Village Trivia, to an occasional guest speaker. We will enjoy reminiscing about days past and seeking your input to what new displays you are looking to see at the museum.

Come join all the fun! The afternoon caps off with great conversation, dessert and coffee. What better way to spend the afternoon?

Watch the local papers or our facebook page for details.
