Versailles High School is glad to introduce Mr. Jackson as a new staff member this year. Originally from Vandalia-Butler, Mr. Jackson received his master’s degree from Wright State University.
Teaching was not always his dream. Growing up, he aspired to be a police officer, like his brother. It was not until he lacked the discipline to pass his college classes that he realized enlisting in the Marines would be a wise decision. While in the Marines, Mr. Jackson decided to change his field of study to social studies education.
When asked how being a marine prepared him for being a teacher, he replied, “It provided me with self-discipline, self-respect, and allowed me to prioritize things.” Also, it taught him to put himself in other peoples’ shoes, as well as follow and lead.
Mr. Jackson’s favorite part about teaching at Versailles is the students’ inquisition and desire to learn. He sees himself being a teacher for the rest of his life. Welcome, Mr. Jackson!
