Reid again honored for patient safety by the Leapfrog Group

In its latest hospital safety scores, The Leapfrog Group has again honored Reid with an “A” grade. This is the fourth time in a row that Reid has received the group’s top score in patient safety. The Leapfrog Group is an independent industry watchdog.

Hospital Safety Scores are compiled twice a year, under the guidance of leading experts on patient safety. The scores use 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to produce a single score of “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” for each hospital. The Hospital Safety Score methodology has been peer reviewed and published in the Journal of Patient Safety.

“These scores reflect Reid’s commitment to keep patients safe from accidents, errors, injuries and infections,” said Mitch Neal, director of patient safety at Reid Hospital. “Patient safety is everyone’s daily responsibility at Reid, and we are always looking for ways to enhance what we do, knowing that safety is essential in order to provide our patients with the high-quality care they need and deserve.”

The Leapfrog Group assigned scores to more than 2,500 U.S. general hospitals in fall 2014, with about 31% receiving an “A” grade. To see how hospitals’ scores compares locally and nationally, visit the Hospital Safety Score website at www.hospitalsafetyscore.org.
