Methamphetamine Drug Lab Discovered in Mobile Home Park While Serving Arrest Warrant for Heroin Charges

On March 9, 2015 the Darke County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit served an arrest warrant on David Reffitt, age 42, for trafficking in heroin. Reffitt was taken into custody at his residence, 503 Beamsville Union City Road Lot#29.

While at the residence officers noticed a chemical odor similar to what is found in the manufacture of methamphetamine. Officers also observed items present that are commonly used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine. A search warrant for the residence was obtained and an active methamphetamine lab was found.

This was the second search warrant conducted at this address in the last five months. The first search warrant resulted in charges for Rickie Hess Jr. on trafficking in methamphetamine and having the material to manufacture methamphetamine. Hess is currently serving an 18 month sentence in prison for charges stemming from that search warrant.

Reffitt is currently being held in the Darke County jail on the trafficking in heroin charge.
