MV FFA Attends State FFA Convention


The Mississinawa Valley FFA chapter attended Ohio’s State FFA Convention on April 30-May 1st 2015. The Convention was held at the Ohio State fairgrounds. Members that attended the Convention were: Zach Dirmeyer, Hunter Coning, Brad Slyder, Levi Livingston, Tom Schmitz, Kyler Mote, Will Hall, Dominic Rammel, Landon Garber, Hope Jankowski, Kaelyn marker, Shelby Manning, Mackenzie Dirmeyer, Kasey Hummel, Shaiann Livingston, Kelsie Hunt, Olivia Murphy, Sidnie Hunt, Madison Stachler, Natalie Wuebker, Leslie Dirksen, and Megan Wilson.

On Thursday, April 30th the members arrived in Columbus. Most of the members enjoyed lunch at Eddie George’s Bar and Grill 27, while others represented the chapter interviewing for proficiency awards.

At the second convention session Thursday evening, Chelsea Skidmore was a star state farmer finalist and proudly represented the Mississinawa Valley-MVCTC FFA chapter.

On Friday, the students attended the fourth session where officers who received gold ratings were announced. 2013-2014 officers Secretary Kasey Hummel and Treasurer Leslie Dirksen all received gold ratings. The chapter was also recognized for donating to the two state FFA charities Children’s Hospital and CROP/Church World Services.

That evening the students went to the final session of the convention. At this session, the state FFA degree recipients were announced. The FFA chapter had four recipients this year, Levi Livingston, Kaelyn Marker, Brad Slyder, Kasey Hummel, and Heather Dirksen.

The students had a great time as always, and are looking forward to next year’s Ohio State FFA Convention. The Mississinawa Valley FFA is proud of all award winners and wishes them luck in the future. Mississinawa Valley-MVCTC FFA is a satellite chapter of Miami Valley Career Technology Center.
