Angel Food Cake Recipe
1 Cup sifted cake flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 1/2 cups (12) egg whites
Sift flour with 3/4 cup sugar 2 times; set aside. Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and salt until frothy. Add remaining 3/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons at a time, continuing to beat until whites hold stiff peaks. Fold in Vanilla. Sift flour mixture (1/4 mixture at a time) over meringue. Fold in gently until flour mixture disappears. With a spatula, push batter into 10 inch ungreased angel food cake pan. Bake 350 for 35 to 40 minutes. Invert cake in pan; cool.
For the creative person, there is Egg Art. It’s art done with either hollow eggs or egg shells in an artistic theme of Poultry Days. A minimum of three eggs are required. Another way to express your creative flare is dyeing a hard boil egg. There’s a division in both Egg Art and Hard Boiled Egg Art for adults and youth. So let your creativity go.
For the youth ages 7-17 only is the egg exhibit. The divisions are white, brown, and, unusual eggs. You must bring in 6 eggs and paper plate to place them on.
