September will see the return of the Union City Arts Festival. The first festival was held last year, and this year will surely build on that success to deliver something even bigger and better.
The two days will be filled with many art competitions, displays and vendors along with many musicians and culinary locations to enjoy, but the main attraction is Saturday night's performance by local native Rick Derringer, an original member of the McCoy's ("Hang on Sloopy") who scored numerous hits including "Rock and Roll Hoochie Coo" and inspired an entire generation of rockers. I, of course, may be of a specific breed of person who consider this his greatest, most impactful work...
Please mark on your calendar, Sept. 11 & 12, and check out www.unioncityartsfestival.org for further details. There will be periodic updates to the site, so check it often between now and the festival.
