Car Strikes Boat in Two Vehicle Accident on 127

On April 5, 2016 at approximately 9:00 PM Darke County Deputies along with Greenville Township Fire & Rescue responded to the intersection of US RT 127 and Greenville-Celina Road on a report of a two vehicle non-injury crash.

Preliminary investigation revealed Shelby Hartzell 17, of Greenville driving a Gray 2005 Nissan Altima was stopped at the intersection of Greenville-Celina Road and US RT 127 and pulled into the intersection in attempt to travel North on US RT 127 and collided into the side of a Southbound 20ft boat and trailer being pulled by a Silver 2007 Honda Ridgeline, driven by Daniel Roberts 50, of Cincinnati. The boat and trailer was disconnected from the vehicle and the boat slid South of the intersection approximately 150 feet into the median. Hartzell was transported to Wayne HealthCare for a possible minor injury. The Southbound lanes of US RT 127 were closed for approximately one hour.

This accident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff's Office.
