DCP School Program Possibilities

Darke County Parks would like to extend an invitation to teachers for the 2016-2017 school year to get your students outside! When it comes to providing quality curriculum based supplemental programming, Darke County Parks’ nature programs are the best resource. Teachers are encouraged to take advantage of what Darke County Parks can offer. Whether it’s geology with an emphasis on the rock cycle or stream studies with an emphasis on the water cycle, our park naturalists can meet your needs. Additionally, all field trips are provided at no cost for all Darke County schools. If travelling for a field trip is not an option, our naturalists can bring a program into your classroom.

All of our program offerings meet the newly revised state science standards and can be an excellent complement to classroom studies. Some of the topics we are offer are life cycles, plants, habitats, geology, natural resources, and more! Students do not just come to learn about natural history. Several schools and grades travel to explore Darke County’s rich cultural history through tours and demonstrations in the Anthony Wayne Peace Council House and the Log House at Shawnee Prairie Preserve These are only a fraction of the programs the Darke County Parks staff has to offer.
