"The employee of the semester award is meant to create a culture that recognizes employees and celebrates accomplishments based upon Key Result one of Edison State's 5-year strategic master plan which focuses on sustaining positive employee engagement," said Kara Myers, Coordinator of Employee Engagement and Talent Acquisition.
"These employees make a difference to Edison State and members of the campus community, go above and beyond expectations, excel as team players, and strive to demonstrate the College's core values."
Veronica French, Academic Project Specialist for Academic Affairs, and Brian Leingang, Associate Professor of English, were named employees of the 2016 fall semester at the annual ceremony. Kara Myers presented each of the recipients with a personal plaque and a designated parking space.
Veronica French, of Piqua, is often commended for her willingness to help, professional integrity, and commitment to her job. French has performed well as a team player with one nominator saying, "I do not believe I could have learned how to do my job and perform as well without Veronica's assistance." Veronica's level of commitment to her job inspires others to take on the same warm, respectful, and cooperative attitude she displays. Another nominator added, "Her friendship, sympathy, and smile have made coming to work a daily joy!"
Brian Leingang, who holds a Master of Arts in English and Literature, was selected for his consistent demonstration of professionalism, prompt communication, flexibility, and consideration of others' interests and needs. Leingang, of Pleasant Hill, has displayed excellent leadership, a positive attitude, exceptional communication skills, and an open mind since beginning at Edison State. One nominator said, "Brian has moved the English and Communication Departments forward. He has been a pleasure to work with!"
All Edison State employees who demonstrate a commitment to the performance excellence goals, core values and continued growth were eligible to be nominated for the award. Those eligible for the award are nominated by their peers and then selected by the AQIP 4 Valuing People Committee.
