Darke County Genealogy To Meet Sunday, April 2nd
Darke County Genealogy is meeting Sunday, Apr. 2, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. This meeting will be in the Lowell Thomas room at Garst Museum in Greenville Ohio. The meeting is free and open to anyone interested. The speaker will be Bill Stevens. He will be speaking on Monroe Roberson, the only person ever hung in Darke County. Bill Stevens has written articles for the Advocate and the Early Bird Newspapers. His wife is the great great granddaughter of Robertson, this is where his interest in the hanging began. He has written several newspaper stories on Roberson and after lengthy research, he has written a book on the subject. To date, there is no one who knows more about this part of Greenville’s history than Bill. Bill is a 21-year veteran of the Air Force. His wife is a native resident of Greenville, who grew up in the area and graduated from Franklin Monroe. As a couple, they have been back in Greenville the last 13 years. This speaker will be followed by refreshments and the regular genealogy meeting. For more info call 548-8295.
