Mr. Brian Pohlman and 2016-2017 FFA President Brenna Loxley on stage receiving the Chapter Charter. |
The highlight of the trip was when Advisor Mr. Brian Pohlman and 2016-2017 Chapter President Brenna Loxley were on stage during the 1st session to officially recognize the return of FFA to Arcanum. After 20+ years without an Agricultural Education Program and FFA Chapter it was with great school pride that they had the honor to accept the Official Charter from the State FFA President Mary Buehler and State Advisor Mr. Matthew Winkle. A great deal of thanks should be given to the Administrations and Boards of Education from both Arcanum-Butler Local Schools and Miami Valley CTC for facilitating the return of the Program.
Also, during Convention’s 1st session, Samantha McAllister walked across the stage to receive recognition for the Chapter’s Donation to the Dayton Children’s Hospital with money raised during FFA Week. During the 3rd session member Alex Weiss was present on stage with his plaque honoring his accomplishments in the Dairy Judging CDE. Alex was the top scoring individual in the Ohio FFA. During the convention the Dairy Judging Team, consisting of Alex Weiss, Sidney McAllister, Samantha McAllister, and Taryn Dohme, received their banner for placing 2nd in the State in that Contest. Alex Weiss was also able to pick up his plaque recognizing him as the 10th place individual in the state in the Farm Business Management CDE.
Members attending the convention were: Jacob Osswald, Zach Smith, Austin Fourman, Samantha McAllister, Brenna Loxley, Devin Burns, Dylan Burns, Sidney McAllister, Alex Weiss, and Carver Gostomsky. A special thanks to Arcanum High School Principal Mr. Jason Stephan for joining the chapter at convention to celebrate its return.
The Arcanum Agricultural Education Department is a satellite program of the Miami Valley Career Technology Center.
