CareSource, Reid Health Physician Associates reach agreement

Physician group will be in-network for CareSource Marketplace plan in 2018

Reid Health and CareSource have reached a contract agreement for Reid Health Physician Associates (RHPA) to join the CareSource Marketplace plan network.

CareSource, a nonprofit health plan, announced recently it will offer Wayne County consumers a marketplace health plan option for 2018. Prior to CareSource’s announcement, the county was at-risk of having no marketplace options for next year.

The agreement between Reid and CareSource will allow individuals currently in the care of RHPA providers who enroll in a CareSource Marketplace plan for 2018 coverage to continue receiving outpatient care from their physician. The agreement does not extend to inpatient hospital coverage and other ancillary services at the hospital.

Services that will be in-network for CareSource Marketplace, under the agreement:

  • Outpatient care at RHPA practices
  • Lab services at RHPA practices
  • Radiology services at the Whitewater Valley Imaging in Connersville, Reid Orthopedics in Richmond, and Reid urgent care locations in Richmond, Connersville and Eaton
  • Emergency care at Reid Health

Craig Kinyon, Reid Health President/CEO, said the agreement was made to maintain important relationships between Reid providers and patients with marketplace coverage. As more insurance providers leave the marketplace locally and nationally, it was important for the hospital to ensure Wayne County residents with marketplace coverage continue to see RHPA providers.

“Reid Health Physician Associates is pleased that we have been able to work this out with CareSource and still follow our longstanding ‘Fairness in Pricing’ policy that maintains our fair prices for all patients at Reid,” Kinyon said.

Last month CareSource notified the Indiana Department of Insurance that it will offer marketplace coverage in 79 counties in Indiana, including Wayne.

“As a nonprofit health plan with a 28-year history of serving vulnerable populations, CareSource’s decision to offer marketplace coverage in Wayne County is a reflection of our deep commitment to helping Hoosiers obtain quality health care coverage,” said Steve Smitherman, CareSource Executive Director, Indiana. “Beyond offering Wayne County consumers an option for quality, affordable health insurance, we’re happy they will have the choice to continue seeing their Reid Health physician.”
