2018 Opening Coming to area Museum

As February dawns the Versailles Area Museum will reopen for its exciting 2018 season. On Sunday February 4th weather permitting, (no open Sundays when Darke County is at a Level 2 Snow emergency). One of our new feature displays is a trip back to the 1970’s and the sound track of many area youth as we all rocked out to the tunes of BUSHWACK. The iconic area band is featured in our Arts Room. We invite you to join us as we remember those days. Rumor has it that Band members may be there on Sunday afternoons to meet, great, and remember the fun!

Christmas is over but for another six weeks we can enjoy the fun of Toy Land. This wonderful memory from the old Martin’s Department Store will leave soon, so come and see all the toys you might have played with over the years!

Many new displays and updates dot the many Gallery’s for you to explore. Don’t miss the chance to come visit for the first time or the 100th time! We welcome you home where we are preserving your memories!

Our first BIG event is our Valentine Tea coming on Saturday February 10th at 12:30 p.m.

The Museum will host our first ever Valentine Tea with our guest hostess, Lady Karen Burkett who will be sharing her ancestry with Martha Washington. Lady Karen will share clothing (referred to as underpinnings) and lifestyles of the 18th century from the Washington era. Imagine you are able to peek in Lady Washington’s closet! All of this will be just in time for the General’s 286th Birthday! Come and celebrate with us. Yes, of course the guys can come too.

A delicious lite luncheon will be served in addition to the presentation. This fundraiser for the Museum is a Ticket only event and seating is limited.

You may make reservations throughout January until Sunday, February 4th by calling the museum at 937-526-4222 or e-mailing teachhistoryjrk@hotmail.com. The cost for the tea is $18.00 and is payable by check to our museum’s P.O. Box 54 at Versailles, Ohio 45380 and are not refundable. However, we will reschedule if the weather is a level 2 snow emergency or worse and we must sell 30 tickets or the event, sadly must be canceled.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to shake off those winter blues, gather up some friends, and join us for the afternoon!
